Payment
Cheques should be made payable to
‘Essex County Fencing Union’ and must be received on or before
the closing date to avoid late entry charge. Payment may also be

Competition format
The competition will be run under
British Fencing Rules with a single round of pools. All
competitors will be promoted to direct elimination without
repechage. The organisers reserve the right to make changes to
ensure the smooth running of any of the competitions.
If demand is sufficient a plate
may be run with a small additional charge.
Medals will be awarded to those
placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd equal
in each competition.
Competition eligibility
This event is open to fencers who
live within the county boundary of Essex or are members of Clubs
who by virtue of geography or history are eligible to affiliate
to the Essex County Fencing Union.
All fencers must be members of the
British Fencing Association. This includes social members who
are able to surrender their single local competition voucher. A
valid card must be produced to check in.
Equipment
All equipment must conform to the
current British Fencing Guidelines for Safety.
Masks must be without rust, holes
or deformation and must have an elastic backstrap.
Clothing must
be free from tears and damage or weakness. A regulation plastron
must be worn.
Gloves must overlap the sleeve.
The Essex County Fencing Union
recommends that all fencers wear 350N or 800N breaches. Fencers
competing in the under 10, under 12 or under 14 events, may
replace breaches by strong full-length trousers or tracksuit
trousers, provided all openings and pockets are zipped, sewn or
taped closed. The trousers must cover the whole leg, shorts are
not permitted. Fencers competing in the under 16 event must wear
350N breaches as a minimum.
Socks must be of sufficient length to ensure that the legs
are fully covered.
Fencers must also have access to a spare
weapon and bodywire.
Conditions
of Entry
All
fencers and spectators participate at their own risk, and are
personally responsible for their own safety. Spectators are
admitted to the venue, and entries accepted, on the
understanding that the British Fencing Association, the Essex
County Fencing Union, the organising committee, the officials,
the referees and the staff of the venue of the competition
cannot accept responsibility for accidents, loss or damage to
persons or property, however caused.
All children must be accompanied
by an adult for the duration of the competition.
The
competition can only run if we are able to use the electric
scoring equipment supplied by entering clubs. It is a condition
of entry that every club entering brings at least one complete
set of spools, box and ground leads. Please help things to run
more smoothly by bringing as many as possible.
Cancellation
If insufficient entries are
received by the closing date to make the competition financially
viable the event will be cancelled. Entrants will be informed by
the email address provided in their entry form and their entry
fee refunded. An announcement will also be made on the County
website.
