Essex County Fencing has arranged with Linda Strachan to run a Foil Refereeing Course on Saturday 19th September with the opportunity for examinations to qualify at level 3 or 4 on Sunday 20th September. The course will be held at:
From 10am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday Linda Strachan is and FIE Grand Prix Foil referee with a great deal of experience and knowledge. The training on Saturday will be composed of both a basic understanding and interpretation of the rules as well as practical advice on refereeing. Attendees will be able to practice with volunteer fencers and have the opportunity to be examined for qualification on the Sunday. Cost for the course is £10. Attendees will need to bring their own refreshments and a copy of the rules of fencing (available from Leon-Paul). Paul Townson is administrator for the course and will ensure registration is completed and new referees are able to take advantage of opportunities in our County to practice and improve their skills and develop to higher levels of qualification. Learning how to referee will help your fencing as well as our sport in general, the cost of the course is subsidised by Essex County Fencing and the fee of £10 is a very good deal for the skills and knowledge that are on offer! Places will be limited and registration is required so please ask fencers at your club who are interested to register with Paul Townson:
